CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

Thank you for taking an interest in Heart of England Way and the Heart of England Way Association . We are primarily is a membership body to support and keep open (user friendly) the 100 miles Heart of England Way, and the 26 mile The Arden Way. If you enjoy  Heart of England Way and or The Arden Way then please consider joining our Association. Your financial support is invaluable - and there are opportunities to help if you wish. Many members enjoy the walk programme and many others do nothing but support by their membership. Part of our work involves VOLUNTEERS WARDENS for both routes and also a walks programme open to all.

In 2008 we created and published the first of our new guides - for The Arden Way - the guide has sold well and, has now been totally REWORKED and UPDATED updated in 2011.  A brand new HEART of ENGLAND WAY Guide, written and compiled by Stephen Cross and commercially published is now on sale from good booksellers and other stores   Note no other guides carry the endorsement of the Association and we can not be liable for the accuracy of the contents. No other guide provides financial support to our work.

In 2009 we installed an information panel at Meriden and the Anniversary bench is also there next to the church. This is the very Heart of England so very fitting! Also we are putting BROWN plaques up on the routes of both walks - to say what the route is about - where it runs and how to get more information.  We have created the artwork ready for a second board to be installed with the kind permission of Staffordshire County Council at Milford Common - the start or end of Heart of England Way! We are waiting for the Council to approve the design and provide a map they want us to use.

Remember Heart of England Way and The Arden Way are footpaths walks for your enjoyment - they are capable of being in poor condition form time to time and also we need to ensure waymarking is maintained and all obstructions and ploughing or cropping legally carried out. You can support us by joining and also by being aware of the beauty around you. If you have not walked with us before come and join a led walk - see our programme - or just get your OS Map out and look for our routes - and get walking!

Best Regards, Graham Rothery, Chairman
