Heart of England Way Association
On Sunday 15th January, 40 members and friends enjoyed an excellent lunch followed by short addresses by Mike Norman and our guest Stephen Coffey from the Heart of England Forest Trust.
Mike welcomed everyone to the lunch and thanked all members for their continued support of the Association which enables us to continue our work on the ways and provide our walks programmes and publications. Thanks were expressed to each of the committee members for their work. It was particularly nice to see President John and Hilda together with a number of our older members. John pointed out that he and Lyn Mabberly had been on the first organised walk.
Mike introduced Stephen who told us about the aims and objectives of the Forest Trust. Long term it was the vision of Felix Denis to plant a woodland of 30,000 acres. The Trust is attempting to continue land acquisition and the planting of native British trees. The Trust is financed by the businesses left by Felix and by Friends of the Trust who pay a monthly donation. Stephen kindly answered a number of questions put by members
Mike expressed thanks to Stephen for his presentation and to Julie Lefevre for organising a very successful event.
