Long Distance Walks

The programme is currently based on 7 sections of the Leicestershire Round walk. As the total distance of this walk is just over 100 miles, it is proposed to complete the unfinished sections in 2019.

This walk encircles the county of Leicestershire, passing near Oakham, Melton Mowbray, Loughborough, Hinckley, Lutterworth and passes by Burrough Hill, Foxton Locks, High Cross, Market Bosworth, and Charnwood Forest. This entire walk is annotated on Ordnance Survey Explorer maps.

The remaining walk dates in 2018 are 29th April (Markfield), 3rd June (Shackerstone), 24th June (Barwell), 29th July (Claybrook Magna), 2nd September (Bruntingthorpe), 30th September (East Langton) and 28th October (Belton/Rutland).

The anticipated cost of coach travel is £120 per person for 8 trips payable in advance. Cost of a single one off trip £20.

The Johnsons coach leaves Brueton Park, Solihull at 8.00am prompt on the respective dates, and usually arrives back at Solihull between 17.00-18.30 hours.

Each Sunday walk is generally between 10-11 miles, and arrangements have been already planned for a pub stop at the end of day's walk, enabling us to socialise, which has proved to be very popular with existing participants.

On each walk we pause for a morning coffee break, followed later by a pre packed lunch break

All COMMUNICATION to our group members HAS TO BE VIA EMAIL & MOBILE TELEPHONE.

During the walking season, a monthly email is sent to all walkers, approximately a week before the walk, updating details for the forthcoming Sunday and advice on how to contact if unable to walk at the last minute for some reason or other.

As we normally book a 40+ seater coach, there is spare capacity for newcomers, who would be most welcome. This year we have 30 signed up so there are some spaces available for one-off attendances (@ £20 per trip payable on the day).
