HOEW guide circular walk - closed path / small diversion
Location: Shustoke reservoirs
Grid Ref: SP 22029 91508
Lat Long: 52.52103121324048, -1.67680746

Date: 16/04/2023
Note:
Conclusion: walkers would find their way, but unnecessary time wasted, muddy field
Action: include details in Route Changes section
Details: map, page 54 of HOEW guide, between B and C, follows B4114 west, out of Shustoke. It then takes footpath, north towards railway. Immediately before C, it "cross the railway". This railway crossing is CLOSED permanently.
Instead, the guide, and Route Changes should suggest replacing "Take the bridge, cross the field take the stile and cross the railway and take the stile" with "Take the bridge, take path half right, moving closer to reservoir perimeter, reaching point 2. on map; cross railway bridge, and turn immediately left to follow path along railway, west to rejoin route at stile"
